Storm at the Nine Mile Corral

Northern San Rafael Style Fremont 750 A.D. to 1250 A.D.
Nine Mile Canyon, Carbon County

The human history of Nine Mile Canyon is scattered near the corrals.  A nearby cave housed nomads for thousands of years.  The Fremonts were late-comers, inhabiting Nine Mile Canyon from 600 AD to 1300 AD.  This Fremont panel lies near Ute carved shields, buffalo and horses.  The cowboys pushed the Ute tribal nations north, then left their own rock carvings of men mounted on horses, initials and names.

What is the difference between historic documentation and vandalism?

In 2004 the Bill Barrett Corporation, the key natural gas company in Nine Mile Canyon purchased this corral and the surrounding area.  Now enormous trucks use the area for parking.
